Quepos — Manuel Antonio. 10 min to Manuel Antonio.
Quepos La Managua Airport (IATA: XQP, ICAO: MRQP) serves the port town of Quepos and Manuel Antonio — the most visited and arguably the most complete tourism destination on Costa Rica's Central Pacific coast. At just 7 meters above sea level on the edge of the Pacific coastal plain, XQP is 20 minutes from Manuel Antonio National Park's entrance and 15 minutes from the Boca Vieja sportfishing marina, making it one of the most conveniently positioned regional airports in Costa Rica.
Manuel Antonio National Park, although one of the smallest parks in the Costa Rican system (only 1,625 hectares), contains some of the most easily observable wildlife in the country — four species of monkeys (white-faced capuchin, howler, squirrel, and spider monkey), two and three-toed sloths, iguanas, basilisk lizards — within a landscape of primary forest trails opening onto several of the most beautiful beaches in Central America. The accessibility of this wildlife (animals are habituated to human presence and observable at close range) makes Manuel Antonio the most photogenic nature experience for first-time Costa Rica visitors.
Beyond the park, the corridor between Quepos and the park entrance has developed the highest density of quality hotels, restaurants, and tour operators on the Central Pacific — including the Makanda by the Sea and Arenas del Mar boutique properties that represent the finest luxury accommodation on this stretch of coast.
