Green AirwaysSchedulesCosta Rica Routes
Understanding Green Airways’ schedule structure helps you plan a Costa Rica itinerary that actually works — and helps you identify where the gaps in the commercial network create opportunities for private charter.
How Green Airways schedules work
Green Airways operates morning-heavy schedules, with most outbound flights from SJO/SYQ departing between 6am and 10am, and return flights arriving back in San José by 2–5pm. This structure suits day-trippers and travelers doing one-way journeys, but creates difficulties for anyone wanting to arrive at a destination late morning or depart in the evening.
Peak season availability
December through April (dry season) and July–August are peak demand periods. On popular routes like SJO→NOB (Nosara) and SJO→TNO (Tamarindo), Green Airways flights can be fully booked 3–4 weeks in advance. If you’re planning a trip during these periods, early booking is essential — or consider private charter, which has no advance booking requirement.
The regional connection gap
Green Airways, like SANSA, cannot fly you from Liberia to the Osa Peninsula, or from Nosara to Tortuguero, without routing through San José. For travelers visiting multiple regions of Costa Rica on a single trip, this adds both time and cost. AeroRide’s private charters fill this gap: multi-stop itineraries are charged per total flight hour, not per leg.
