Green AirwaysPrivate CharterComparison
Green Airways and AeroRide operate from the same hub (SYQ), fly to the same airports and serve largely the same travel market. The differences lie in schedule, group pricing and what happens when your plans change.
Price per person: surprisingly close for groups
Green Airways: $70–130 per person one-way on most routes. A group of 5 flying SJO→PJM pays $350–650 collective. AeroRide SJO→PJM private charter: $750–950 for the whole aircraft — or $150–190 per person for a group of 5. Private is competitive at 4+ passengers, and clearly better at 5+ on longer routes.
Schedule flexibility: no contest
Green Airways’ fixed morning schedules mean you plan your trip around the airline. AeroRide’s on-demand model means the airline plans around you. This difference is most felt at the end of a multi-day trip, when a sunset turtle tour at Tortuguero or a late dive session at Drake Bay isn’t something you want to cut short to make a 2pm departure.
The bottom line
Green Airways is excellent value for solo travelers and couples on a budget. Private charter becomes the rational choice — not a luxury — for groups of 4+, any trip requiring a regional connection without a San José stopover, travelers with equipment and anyone whose time is worth more than the price gap between commercial and private.
