La CosteñaNicaraguaCorn IslandDomestic
La Costeña is Nicaragua’s only domestic airline, operating from Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) to the Caribbean coast destinations that are otherwise accessible only by multi-hour bus journeys or unreliable road infrastructure. For visitors to the Corn Islands or Bluefields, La Costeña is indispensable.
La Costeña’s route network
La Costeña primarily serves the MGA–RNI (Corn Island) route and MGA–BEF (Bluefields) route. The Corn Island flight is the most important — a 90-minute hop to one of the Caribbean’s most authentic and least-known island destinations, replacing a journey that would otherwise take 12+ hours by road and boat.
What La Costeña does well
In a country with limited tourism infrastructure and challenging overland routes to the Caribbean coast, La Costeña genuinely opens up destinations that would be inaccessible to most visitors without it. The Corn Islands — with their pristine reef, fresh lobster and Creole culture — are among Central America’s hidden Caribbean gems, and La Costeña is the reason they’re visitable at all for most travelers.
The private charter complement
AeroRide supplements La Costeña’s scheduled service for groups, corporate travelers and anyone needing departure flexibility on Nicaragua’s Caribbean routes. The MGA–RNI private charter covers the same 90-minute route with no fixed departure time and full baggage flexibility.
