Nicaragua has a genuine structural advantage for group events: the airport-to-venue transfer is under an hour to Granada and around two hours to the coast. After the three-hour transfers common elsewhere in the region, that changes how an arrival day works.
There is also one question to settle before anything else.
The question to settle first
Your guests will each check their own government's travel advisory, and those differ by nationality.
Some will find restrictions that affect their insurance, and a few may decline on that basis.
Address it in the first communication rather than letting sixty people discover it independently. A clear line — here is the position, here is what we suggest you check — prevents the slow drip of questions that otherwise arrives for months. We check travel advisories before confirming each route and tell you if they change.
We take no position on the politics. We flag it because it determines your guest list.
The venues
Restored colonial houses in Granada, with courtyards, fountains and capacities from twenty to a couple of hundred. This is the signature option and it photographs beautifully.
Private-bay resorts on the Tola coast, which give you an entire beach and a single site for the whole weekend — the strongest option for a three-day event.
Haciendas around Granada and Masaya, for groups wanting space and parking without the cobbled streets.
And Little Corn, for very small weddings, with the caveat that the panga makes guest logistics genuinely difficult.
The arrival advantage
One gateway, Managua, and a short transfer. Sixty guests arriving across a day is a manageable operation here rather than a logistical event.
Stagger arrivals if you can, and get morning flights for anyone with a choice — but the penalty for an afternoon landing is far smaller here than in Guatemala.
Put the arrival instruction in writing early. Which airport, what the transfer looks like, who is meeting them.
Moving a group
Granada's centre takes coaches better than Antigua's, though the streets around the main square still need checking for your specific venue.
The coast is a straightforward coach run, or 43,6 nautical miles by air from Managua for anyone arriving tight. The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.
And regional guests fly: Liberia is 57,8 nautical miles from Costa Esmeralda and San José 173,2 from Managua. We show a "from" price per route; the final fare depends on the date, the group and the baggage, and is confirmed in writing before booking.
What to settle early
The advisory communication, as above.
Held room capacity, with a release date, because final numbers arrive late. AeroRide invoices and charges directly from the site; you receive your receipt in the name of the person or company you give us on confirmation.
Whether your venue has a covered alternative, because a Granada courtyard is open to the sky.
And the departure, which is harder than the arrival and gets less planning.
The season
We fly year-round. In the rainy season the pilot in command decides; if weather stops a flight, it is rescheduled at no cost. November to April is the reliable window, and the one to build around.
Christmas and Easter fill the coast completely, with rates to match.
The wet months bring afternoon rain, which matters for open courtyards — morning and midday ceremonies work, late afternoon is where people get caught.
And avoid March and April for anything outdoors in the middle of the day; the heat is genuinely punishing.
Frequently asked questions
Why Nicaragua for a wedding?
Colonial courtyards in Granada, private-bay resorts on the Tola coast, and the shortest airport-to-venue transfer in the region.
What should we settle first?
The advisory question. Guests will each check their own government's advice, and some will find it affects their insurance.
Which venue type works best?
A Granada colonial house for the photographs, or a private-bay resort on the coast for a single-site three-day event.
How hard is the arrival?
Easier than elsewhere in the region. One gateway and a transfer of under an hour to Granada or around two to the coast.
Can regional guests fly in?
Yes. Liberia is 57,8 nautical miles from Costa Esmeralda and San José 173,2 from Managua.
When should the ceremony be?
November to April, and not the middle of the day in March or April. A Granada courtyard is open to the sky.
