A private charter to San Blas is quoted on request for the whole aircraft, not per passenger. It is the only destination in this catalogue where the flight price is not the only obligatory cost of the trip: the Guna Yala comarca has its own access regime. Here is both sides of it.
Quoted per aircraft, not per seat
The fare covers the entire aircraft and does not change with passenger count. With 4–12 seats, the cost per person depends on how many travel.
With one important caveat at this destination, explained below: here the passenger count and their baggage are more constrained than anywhere else in the network.
Variable 1: the origin and the strip
From Albrook (PAC) to Playón Chico (PYC) is 81.1 nautical miles · 150 kilometres, crossing the cordillera to the Caribbean coast.
Guna Yala has several strips spread across the comarca — Playón Chico is one of the main ones — and which one is used depends on the island your accommodation sits on. Distances vary little between them; what changes is the boat leg from the strip to your lodge.

Variable 2: short strips, light aircraft, limited baggage
This is the cost factor most people underestimate.
Guna Yala's strips are short and typically operate light high-wing turboprops. Playón Chico's sits on the mainland — connected to Ukupseni island by a bridge — barely five metres above sea level, with north approach and departure over the water and rising terrain a kilometre to the south.
The practical consequence: travelling light is not a style recommendation but an operational condition. If your group exceeds the weight or volume a light aircraft takes, the alternatives are stepping up a category — which changes the fare — or splitting the flight.
So at this destination more than any other, the quote needs the real passenger count and an honest description of the baggage.

Variable 3: the cost we do not quote, and why
Guna Yala is an indigenous comarca with its own government. The Guna people administer their territory and regulate visitor access, with their own rules on lodging, photography and movement between islands.
That involves entry fees and requirements that are not ours and that we do not quote. We do not publish them here because they change and because it is not our place to set them: Access requires an authorisation handled by the area’s administration or your local operator, on their own timescales.
We say it on the price page rather than in the small print because it affects your real budget. A traveller comparing only air fares between destinations would be comparing different things.
Variable 4: the overland alternative, which here really is cheaper
Plainly: road access to San Blas — via Cartí, crossing the cordillera, then by boat between islands — is considerably cheaper than flying. Plenty of people do it and it is part of the experience.
The flight wins in three specific cases: groups with small children or older travellers, anyone unwilling to spend a day that starts before dawn, and travel on dates when sea state makes the crossing uncomfortable.
If your criterion is price alone, the road wins. We would rather say so.
Empty legs
When a repositioning sector coincides with your route and date, the fare can drop. At comarca destinations the coincidence is less frequent. We work with empty legs: they arise from operations already confirmed, are listed at short notice and are not guaranteed. Ask us what is available that day.
On confirmed weather-related closures: Several fields in the network operate in daylight and visual conditions, and close when the weather does not allow it.
