This page does not give you a figure: it explains what yours depends on. And in Belize there is a factor that carries this much weight at no other origin in the catalogue: which of the two airports you depart from. On request per aircraft.
The destinations, by distance
| Destination | From Goldson (BZE) | From the municipal (TZA) |
|---|---|---|
| Caye Caulker | 19.6 NM | 16.0 NM |
| San Pedro, Ambergris | 29.6 NM | 27.0 NM |
| Placencia | 60.3 NM | — |
| Flores (Guatemala) | 96.9 NM | — |
| Roatán (Honduras) | 126.1 NM | — |
The city's two fields sit 6.6 nautical miles apart.
Why the airport matters so much here
At almost every origin in the catalogue, choosing between two nearby fields is immaterial. Not here, and the reason is arithmetic.
To Caye Caulker: 16.0 from the municipal against 19.6 from the international. Almost a quarter of the run.
To San Pedro, 27.0 against 29.6: close to nine per cent.
It is the rule the corpus established in block 21 — the shorter the sector, the more the departure airport weighs — and Belize is where it shows best, because it has Central America's shortest sectors and two separate fields.
Even so, the final decision is ground logistics: Goldson if you connect from a long-haul flight, the municipal if you are already in the centre. The aircraft may need to reposition to the departure aerodrome, and that leg forms part of the quote.

Half the destinations are better reached by water
That is the first thing to say before discussing price.
Caye Caulker (19.6 NM) and San Pedro (29.6 NM) have a regular water taxi, frequent and considerably cheaper. On such short sectors, the transfers to each aerodrome and the coordination take longer than the flight.
Fly only in rough seas, with bulky dive baggage, or connecting to a long flight the same day.
Where flying does change the day
Placencia (60.3 NM). Overland you have to run down the Hummingbird and the Southern Highway, and it is the segment that returns most in the whole Belize catalogue.
Flores (96.9 NM) and Roatán (126.1 NM). Both international, and both replacing chains of transport rather than roads.
What moves the budget
The operating minimum. There is a threshold below which no sector costs less. With Caye Caulker at 19.6 nautical miles, that means the price does not drop proportionally with distance — and it is why short sectors fare badly in the comparison.
Baggage. Diving and fishing are a good share of the traffic here, and the kit is what most often forces a step up in category. The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.
Advance coordination. Placencia requires apron arrangement with Tropic Air or Maya Island Air: it is not a destination to be resolved on the day. We confirm prior apron coordination with the field in the quote, because it changes with the date and the operation.
A fact that corrects old information
Caye Caulker was resurfaced after the 2017 service suspension, with asphalt and lighting. References still describing it as dangerous are out of date.
It does not change our recommendation — the boat still wins — but the decision should be made for the right reason.
