Ninety point five nautical miles from the Panamanian Caribbean to the Costa Rican Pacific. It is the route with the most constraints stacked in the whole catalogue, and worth reading before asking. Quoted per aircraft on request.

Four constraints, all on the same day
None is exclusive to this route. What is exclusive is having all four at once.
| Constraint | What it means |
|---|---|
| Eleven-metre runway | There may be no aircraft for your group |
| International crossing | Deadlines that do not depend on distance |
| Boat departure from Bocas | A fixed hour before anything else starts |
| Corcovado quotas | Coordinated in advance and not handled by us |
At David–Drake Bay we said it was the leg asking for most notice. This one asks for more, because it adds the sea link at the origin.
The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.
The alternative, for the fourth time
Puerto Jiménez is 78.8 nautical miles from Bocas, twelve fewer, and restricts nothing. From there to Drake is 23.0 overland.
It is the same recommendation we give from San José, from David and from Quepos. Four different origins, four different distances, the same answer: the bottleneck is at the destination, not on the way. The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.
With a large group this is not an alternative: it is the only route.
Two rainforests in two oceans
Bocas del Toro and Osa are the two rainforest corners of this border, one on each ocean, and they resemble each other in nothing: a Caribbean archipelago against a Pacific peninsula with Corcovado.
Overland it is two days with boat, border crossing and the Interamericana. By air, ninety nautical miles.
Almost nobody combines them, and this route is why they could — if the group fits.
And the links we do not operate
From the airstrip to the lodges there is a sea or track journey we do not operate. Ground transfer is not included in the fare: your accommodation or a local operator arranges it.
The park requires a certified guide and quotas are coordinated in advance; we do not handle those either. Access requires an authorisation handled by the area’s administration or your local operator, on their own timescales.
Added to the international formalities and the departure boat, it is the itinerary in the catalogue with the most parts outside our control. That is why we ask for generous dates.
