Weddings and Groups in El Salvador

Colonial courtyards, a crater lake and beach venues close to the airport, priced in dollars. What works for groups, and the transport rule guests need to know about.

El Salvador has two genuine advantages for group events. The international airport is on the coast, close to the beach venues, and nothing else in the country is far — and budgets are in US dollars, which removes a currency layer for most guests and planners.

There is also one rule worth planning around from the start.

The rule to plan around

El Salvador has zero tolerance for drink-driving. A single drink before driving can mean detention.

For a wedding, that makes group transport after the reception essential, not optional. Build it into the budget and tell guests clearly that no one should drive themselves back.

And remind guests to carry identification, as current advisories recommend throughout the country, including on the way to and from the venue. We check travel advisories before confirming each route and tell you if they change.

The venues

Colonial houses in Suchitoto, with courtyards and views over the lake. It is the most atmospheric setting in the country and suits weddings of modest size.

Lakeside venues at Coatepeque, below the Santa Ana volcano, for a ceremony with a crater lake behind it.

Beach venues on the coast, from boutique places near El Zonte to larger hotels on the stretch of coast near the airport, which suit bigger groups.

And coffee farms on the Ruta de las Flores, for cool evenings and a rural setting in the hills.

The arrival advantage

One gateway and a short transfer. Guests land on the coast, and the beach venues are close; even the highland venues are only a couple of hours away.

Stagger arrivals if you can, but an afternoon landing costs far less here than in most of the region.

Write the arrival instruction early: which airport, what the transfer looks like, who meets them.

Moving a group

Coaches handle the main roads well, though the cobbled streets of Suchitoto and the hill roads need smaller vehicles close to the venue.

Regional guests can fly in: Guatemala City is 109,7 nautical miles from the international airport, Tegucigalpa 113,5 and Managua 186,2. We show a "from" price per route; the final fare depends on the date, the group and the baggage, and is confirmed in writing before booking. The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.

The advisory communication

Guests will check their own governments' advisories, which differ by nationality.

Address it in the first communication: a clear line on the current situation, what to carry and what to check, prevents a slow trickle of questions over months.

We take no political position. We flag it because it shapes the guest list.

What to fix early

The post-reception transport, as above.

Blocked capacity, with a release date, because final numbers arrive late. AeroRide invoices and charges directly from the site; you receive your receipt in the name of the person or company you give us on confirmation.

Whether your venue has a covered fallback, because a courtyard or a beach is open to the sky.

And the departure day, harder than the arrival and given less planning.

The season

We fly year-round. In the rainy season the pilot in command decides; if weather stops a flight, it is rescheduled at no cost. November to April is the reliable window, dry and clear, and the one to build a wedding around.

Easter fills the coast completely, with the pricing to match.

The wet months bring afternoon storms, which matter for open-air venues: morning and midday ceremonies work, late afternoon is where people get caught.
