Every fare on this site says the same thing: on request for the whole aircraft, not per passenger. This page explains what that actually means, because it is the difference that most changes a group's decision.
The arithmetic, unadorned
The fare does not vary with headcount. Whether two travel or 4–12 do, the price of the flight is the same.
That has a consequence worth stating plainly: for one or two people, a private flight almost never competes with the road or a scheduled service. For six, the comparison gets interesting. For eight or more to a destination with no air alternative, it usually wins.
It is not a smooth scale. There is a point where the maths flips, and that point depends on three things: how many are going, where to, and what real alternative exists.
And compare properly: not the flight price against one scheduled ticket, but against the full cost of the alternative for everyone travelling — tickets, ground transfer, and an extra night if the journey eats a day.
The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field.
Where the group changes the equation most
At destinations with no alternative. Drake Bay, Tortuguero, Guanaja: there the comparison is not against a scheduled flight but against a full day of road and boat. Multiplied by eight people, that day carries a real cost nobody counts.
At destinations with an alternative, the maths tightens. Roatán has direct scheduled flights; Ambergris and Caye Caulker have water taxis. A large group heading there should genuinely compare before deciding, and we say so on the relevant pages.
The real limit is rarely the seat
Here is the commonest mistake: counting people and forgetting what they carry.
A group of eight with hand baggage is one problem; a group of six with surfboards, dive kit or rods is an entirely different one. The aircraft is assigned by weight and volume, not by seats alone.
And at several destinations the runway intervenes as well. Drake Bay is 1,000 metres by 18 wide: it does not limit the aircraft by width, and what governs first any group consideration does.
Send passenger count and a description of the baggage. The specific aircraft is assigned on confirmation, based on passenger count, baggage and the destination field. · We confirm the assigned aircraft’s seat count in the quote, because it changes with the date and the operation.
Families with children
Two questions we always get, worth settling before booking: how minors count against capacity, and what restraint systems are used.
We do not answer them here without operational confirmation: Children travel with us as a matter of course: tell us ages and weights when quoting and we confirm the configuration and seats before booking.
What we can anticipate: on a short flight in a small aircraft, a child occupies a seat like any passenger for weight purposes. "Four adults and two children" is a party of six, not four.
A group that does not fit in one aircraft
It happens. And when it does, two aircraft do not cost the same as one larger one: it is literally double the flight.
In that case it is worth checking whether the group can split across two departure times, whether part of it can travel overland, or whether the destination takes a higher-capacity aircraft. That is a logistics conversation, not a catalogue one, and we would rather have it before quoting.
One more thing worth knowing: two aircraft do not necessarily depart or land together. If your group has to arrive as one, say so early. It is a planning requirement, not a given.
Frequently asked questions
Is the price per person or per aircraft?
Per whole aircraft. It does not vary with headcount, so the per-head cost depends on how many travel.
From how many people is it worth it?
For one or two, almost never. At six the comparison gets interesting. At eight or more to destinations with no air alternative, it usually wins.
Is the real limit the seats?
Usually not. The aircraft is assigned by weight and volume. Six people with dive kit can be more restrictive than eight with hand baggage.
How do children count?
Children travel with us as a matter of course: tell us ages and weights when quoting and we confirm the configuration and seats before booking. For weight purposes, in a small aircraft a child occupies a seat like any passenger.
What if we do not all fit?
Two aircraft cost double the flight, not something in between. Worth checking staggered departures or higher capacity before quoting.
Where is it not worth it even for a large group?
At destinations with a good alternative: Roatán has direct scheduled flights, and Ambergris and Caye Caulker have water taxis.
